About the 2009 Broadway Teachers Workshop


3 days, 4 shows and a terrific lineup of workshops and master classes with working Broadway professionals

Workshops and Master Classes to include:

  • Tony Award winning writing team of Lynne Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty
    (SEUSSICAL, RAGTIME, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND)
  • Tony Award winning director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall
    (GREASE, WONDERFUL TOWN, THE PAJAMA GAME)
  • Tony Award nominated composer Jeanine Tesori
    (SHREK THE MUSICAL, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, CAROLINE OR CHANGE)
  • TITLE OF SHOW cast member Susan Blackwell will lead a creativity workshop entitled “Die Vampires Die” (especially for returning registrants)
  • A sneak preview of the new Broadway bound musical SPIDERMAN, directed by Julie Taymor with music by Bono with BTW favorites, musical director Kim Grigsby and associate scenic designer Rob Bissinger.
  • 2009 Tony Award nominee Alice Ripley from NEXT TO NORMAL (SIDE SHOW, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, SUNSET BOULEVARD and THE WHO’S TOMMY)
  • Tony Award winning Lighting Designer Ken Billington (over 80 Broadway shows including CHICAGO, THE DROWSEY CHAPERONE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF)
  • Practical workshops including:
    Choreography creation for non dancers, Directing techniques, Scene Study, Make-up, Discount Designs, Stage Combat, Fundraising & Marketing, Guide to Career & Educational paths from High School to Broadway with cast and creative team members of 9 to 5, WEST SIDE STORY, IN THE HEIGHTS and more!

Schedule:

Session A: July 9 – 11, 2009
Session B: July 13 – 15, 2009
Session C: July 16 – 18, 2009

Tuition: $599, which includes 8 workshop sessions and your ticket to four shows.

Graduate credit: Participants in the Broadway Teachers Workshop can earn 3 graduate credits through the UNLV Theatre department. There is a written assignment and an additional tuition fee payable to UNLV of approximately $830 (including all out of state and distance learning fees.). Registration for credits is done on line directly through UNLV once you have already registered and been accepted to the Broadway Teachers Workshop.

How to apply: When the 2010 application becomes available, you can apply online anytime if you would like to pay by credit card. You may also print and mail an application and pay by your choice of check, purchase order or credit card.
